Superintendent's Corner

January got off to a great start with all the elementary and middle students participating in the school-wideSpelling Bee. Congratulations go to winning students Andres Guzman (1st grade), Arihanna Pelayo (2ndgrade), Carlos Chap (3rd grade), Olivia Blystone (4th grade), Santiny Aguilar (5th grade), Jami Peterson (6thgrade), Arrianna Ocho-Tovar (7th grade) and Destiny Alvarez (8th grade) for their outstanding performance. Santiny Aguilar and Jami Peterson will represent Patagonia Schools in the Santa Cruz County Spelling Beesponsored by the SCC Superintendent’s office on February 5th. Congratulations for winning the school-wide competition and best of luck to you both.

I also want to recognize Garrett Fish for being awarded Rotary Student of the Month for Social Studies.

February starts off with vision and hearing screening for Pre-K and Kindergartners on Wednesday, February 4th at 8:30 -9:30 AM.

February is National Heart Month and Patagonia Elementary Grades K – 5 are organizing Jump Rope for Heart to raise money for the American Heart Association and to raise awareness about heart disease and prevention. The fundraiser starts on February 23rd and will end on March 6th with the kids jumping rope all day. Luke Bentley will be sending a letter home with all participating students explaining all the details of the program.
